FAQ'S

What is therapy like with you?

Therapy with me is all about the conversation between us. I encourage clients to come to session ready to delve into what has been on their mind lately and how our work together has changed their day to day experiences. Let's turn that annoying coworker into an understanding of interpersonal relationships or the funny video, that hit home a little too hard, into a recognition of our own self esteem.

I rarely incorporate worksheets or step by step instructions as I feel these are tight boxes clients are ordered to follow in order to "fix" themselves. At times, therapy is a commitment that can feel uncomfortable and requires patience, but I am here to guide and encourage as you lead the way.

How do you incorporate art therapy into telehealth?

The short answer is however is accessible and beneficial for you! Whatever art supplies you have on hand can be applied to encourage deeper conversation, comfort during harder topics, and a sense of fun and openness that talk therapy alone doesn't always fully utilize. I have prompts and interventions for ball point pens, post it notes, and highlighters as much as paint, collage, and other fine art mediums.

The American Art Therapy Association lays it all out: Art therapy is used to improve cognitive and sensorimotor functions, foster self-esteem and self-awareness, cultivate emotional resilience, promote insight, enhance social skills, reduce and resolve conflicts and distress, and advance societal and ecological change.

When are you available?

I am available for sessions Mondays 2pm - 5pm and Tuesdays-Thursdays 9am - 5pm EST. All appointments are through the TherapyNotes telehealth portal which is easy to use and HIPAA compliant.

Once you schedule with me, you have that day and time slot throughout the entire course of our treatment. I.E. You will meet with me every Tuesday from 10am-11am. You can see my Rates & Fees page for more information and an explanation of late and cancel fees.

While I like to start out meeting with a client weekly at the beginning of our treatment, I am aware that not all life styles and budgets can accommodate this. I offer bi-weekly and monthly appointments for new and ongoing clients.
